Ventura was rescued on 3rd November 2013

Age at Rescue : 10 days old (whitecoat)
Weight at Rescue : 21kgs
Reason for rescue : Puncture wounds around mouth and chin. Small gash close to left ear and small ulcer in left eye.

Ventura was transported by members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) team from the beach at Gwithian to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary where she was put into one of the isolation pens in the hospital. A clinical assessment was carried out and the pup was prescribed antibiotics and painkillers as a precaution to fight any infections she may be harbouring. The pup has been named Ventura.
Update - 16th November 2013 : Bloods came back clear so off treatment now. The pup is really feisty and bright. She is now in the main hospital learning to feed in water. The Animal Care team are still supplementing Ventura with fish until she can feed herself properly.

Update - 22nd November 2013 : Ventura has been moved to down to the outside nursery pool number 3. She is not eating for herself yet and needs the animal care team´s help with being fed fish, although she is doing well and putting on weight!

Update - 20th January 2014 : Ventura is waiting to be released back to the wild, she cannot be safely returned until the weather improves.
