2008/9 Rescued Seal Pups

Some more sad news, Charlie who was rescued on 3rd June 2008 passed away on 25th July 2008. We are still awaiting the full details from her post mortem but believe she was having difficulties digesting the food. It´s a sad loss as Charlie was the first of three pups rescued so far this season (2008/9) and was the cheeky lassie of the 3.

Charlie had got to the point where she was being fed larger pieces of fish; the Animal Care Team saw that she was not her usual bright self and sought advice. They followed the advice given but unfortunately she was too poorly to cope by then and passed away over night.
MaryMary (left) and Flora (right) are both doing well and are happily taken the fish from the hands of the Animal Care Team without them always having to go in the pen with them. Flora can be a little more resistant at times but this only serves to keep the team on their toes. Flora
We have been having some building work done to the Quarantine area and Weaning Pool and once this has been completed the pups should get their first swim soon.

Mary is itching to meet her neighbour Flora and whenever she sees her being weighed scratches at the glass of her nursery pen to get out and meet her. We are all sure that once they meet each other they will happily play together!
