Milkyway
Photo of Milkyway The pup was found on the beach by George and Sam who contacted Dave McBride, a member of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) team. Dave arranged from Dave Jarvis and Lesley Jarvis to come over on the ferry to collect the pup and transport it to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary.

Due to the weather, Dave and Lesley were stuck on the Scillies, so they contacted the local vet, Heike Chayah Dorn, who looked after the pup overnight. They finally managed to get back with the pup using the all-year round freight service to Penzance.
Update - 30th September 2013 : Milkyway has now been moved into the main hospital.

Photo of Milkyway Update - 12th October 2013 : Milkyway is still in the hospital and being forced fed with fish. The animal care team are filling her pool after each feed in the hope she will begin feeding herself - no such luck just yet.

Update - 26th October 2013 : Well what do we say about Milkyway! Has fully moulted now. Noisy, wriggly and just refuses to eat fish for herself! So much so that the Animal Care Team have had to put her on fish soup and give her regular swims. So far no luck! Definitely a unique seal and secretly this is Emma´s (a member of the Animal Care Team) favourite pup!
Update - 16th November 2013 : Milkyway struggled to feed herself for a long time in the hospital and was moved back onto fish soup.   On 27th October the team started force feeding her again. That night a storm prevented the team safely coming in for night feeds. She was clearly hungry the next day and fed herself. Has been eating everything in sight ever since! Now weighs 17.85kgs.   On 3rd November 2013 she was moved down to the outside nursery pools. She is now feeding well and a very happy seal pup. Flipper tag number is 146.
Update - 22nd November 2013 : Milkyway is now in the convalescent pool with the resident seals and rescued pups (Aurora, Eclipse, Mars, Orion, Nasa, Moon and Galaxy).

Update - 2nd December 2013 : This photo (right) of Milkyway was taken on 1st December 2013 in the convalescent pool.
