Paxo-Rocket was rescued on 5th November 2013
Gender : Male

Location of Rescue : Pendruthen beach, St Marys, Isles of Scilly.

Age at Rescue : 1 week old (whitecoat pup)

Reason for rescue : This pup was monitored for many hours with no sign of his mum, a decision was made to rescue the pup by members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) team and transported to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary where he was put into one of the isolation pens in the hospital.
Paxo-Rocket
A clinical assessment was carried out by members of the animal care team and the pup was prescribed antibiotics as a precaution to fight any infections he may be harbouring. For the first few days in the hospital, he was tube fed with multi-milk 4 times per day, the pup needs 24 hours care around the clock with night feeds. The pup has been named Paxo-Rocket.
Paxo-Rocket Update - 22nd November 2013 : Paxo-Rocket has nearly moulted and loosing fur really quickly!

He is having little swims and loving it! Paxo-Rocket is off treatment and being force fed fish. Not quite eating for himself though! Paxo-Rocket is currently in hospital pen number 1.

Update - 2nd December 2013 : This photo (right) of Paxo-Rocket was taken on 1st December 2013 in the hospital. He currently weighs 16.5kgs.

Update - 8th December 2013 : This pup has fully moulted, and having regular swims, but still not self feeding!! (this pup was mentioned on the BBC one show with Jeremy Paxman which was aired this week). Paxo-Rocket currently in the hospital´s pen number 1.

Paxo-Rocket Update - 29th December 2013 : Paxo-Rocket is currently in the nursery pool number 2 with other rescued seal pups Juno and Venus.

His flipper tag number is 188 (orange).

Update - 25th February 2014 : Paxo-Rocket is in the convalescent pool for his final stage of rehabilitation and learning how to compete for fish with seals during feeding time. Convalescent pool
Seal Release on 23rd May 2014 Update - 24th May 2014 : Rocket along with Callisto, Oberon and Bianca were released back into the wild on 23rd May 2014 at Gunwalloe.
