Ray the famous seal celebrates his 18th Birthday

The Cornish Seal Sanctuary will be celebrating one of their most popular resident seals 18th birthday in style with a pool party and the launch of a dedicated beer honouring Ray´s special milestone.

Ray was rescued from Widemouth bay in October 2001, at approximately 3 weeks of age. He was malnourished and found at the top end of the beach, as far away from the water as possible, with his nose pressed up against the side of a rock face.

His injuries mean he displays behaviour which is different from other seals. He is extremely friendly and playful, and he is so popular he even has his own Facebook page which is kept updated with all of his shenanigans for his 4,000 followers to enjoy!
We would love for you to join us to celebrate Ray´s special day, there will opportunity to meet Ray, interview our Curator Tamara Cooper who initially rehabilitated Ray back in 2001 and see Ray have his fish birthday cake and share some toys with his pool partners.

We will also be launching "Ray of Sunshine", a beer specially made to commemorate Rays turning of age which is on sale at the Sanctuary.

The celebrations begin at 12 noon on Tuesday 15th October 2019.
