Alfred was rescued on 16th September 2017
Alfred, 4 weeks old male grey seal pup, was rescued on 16th September 2017 from Wanson beach near Poundstock.

This pup was found with bite wounds to the rear of his flipper.

Upon arrival at the seal hospital, the pup weighed 15kgs.

Alfred Update - 8th October 2017 : Alfred is currently in the hospital and will be moved to the outside nursery pools soon. He weighs 17kgs.

His flipper tag number is 306 (green).

Update - 22nd October 2017 : Alfred was moved down to the outside nursery pools on 14th October 2017 and learning from other seals how to feed for herself.
Update - 30th October 2017 : Alfred is very feisty and has yet to learn how to eat fish on his own, despite watching his pool mate Drake.

Rehab poolUpdate - 25th February 2018 : Alfred is currently in the rehabilitation pool and will be released back to the wild shortly.

Update - 28th March 2018 : Here is a photo of Alfred in the rehab pool just before he was released back into the wild on 26th March 2018.

Alfred weighed 50kgs on 20th March 2018.
Alfred
Alfred released back to the wild on 26th March 2018 Alfred along with Charlestown, Grambler, Warleggan, Ted and Crofty were all released at Porthtowan Beach on 26th March 2018. The planned release is a major operation involving several members of the Sanctuary team. The rehabilitation pool was drained, and then each pup was herded into a cage and then transferred to a trailer which was then driven onto the beach to be safely released.
