Erica was rescued on 25th January 2014
Gender : Female

Age at rescue : 8 weeks old

Location of Rescue : Porthjoke, Newquay

Reason for Rescue : The pup was found to have respiratory infection, puncture wound to flippers, gingivitus and ulceration to mouth.

The pup was rescued by members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) team and transported to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary for treatment.
Erica
Upon arrival at the Seal Sanctuary´s hospital, she was put into isolation pen where a full clinical assessment was carried out by members of the Animal Care Team. She was prescribed antibiotics for mouth her mouth and chest infection and wounds to her body. The pup was named Erica.
Erica Update - 25th February 2014 : Erica is on a course of treatment in the hospital and is being fed fish at the moment. Once Erica feels better and learns to eat fish for herself, she will move down into the outside nursery pools with the other seals! She currently weighs 21kgs.
